Heaven help you if you were ever forced to make decisions without the help of the govt for one whole day. How would you know when to sleep and drive. Would you be allowed to sit down or just grab something for the road. Who would tell you? Gives me the heebie jeebie just thinking about a world where people take responsibility for themselves.

I can't agree more. It's just too hard to try to keep two logs straight now. Those days have passed. And truth be told when running two books you are working way too hard. Sad thing is all that extra work--keeping two books, concocting straight stories, drive, drive, drive, meet the deadlines, lie some more... It just doesn't result in enough extra dollars to make it worth the effort. Granted, the company may not agree wholeheartedly on this point, but then they will surely end your tenure once you're caught falsifying and given the CSA stain. That one I've seen all too many times in my years and that was even way before CSA-2010.
In the digital realm, may God help you if you're involved in a major accident. Everything is fair game when the state's attorney decides to indict.
There was, however, a time when the challenge was a little too much fun. But to sum it all up, back then it financially wasn't sound even then. Not it's not only financially sound, but it isn't rationally sound from a legal standpoint. Simply put, don't do it. -

Service sells. Plain and simple. Back when I ran flatbed I seldom ran over 600 miles a day. I fudged almost daily to make it work. We loaded and unloaded every day and if you logged it straight you'd only get 4 loads in a week instead of 5, which was a good chunk of money in my pocket. We ran the NW and everyone knows how many scales you cross out there. My fuel matched, my scales matched, I slept at night. I just needed that little extra for untarping, unloading, loading, and tarping in the morning. And if I read the op correctly that's what I suspect he was asking about, not so much falsifying to run 1000 miles a day. He mentioned sleeping a couple hours out and how to make it work the next day. I used to run SLC a lot and once I crossed the scale at Perry it didn't matter where I slept. As far as the rest of the world was concerned I slept in SLC right at my delivery.

Calling me a liar does not change the fact that not every criminal case can be kinked to on the internet. Newspapers sometimes remove news stories after a while has passed. Also I did no say the evidence don't exist I said I can't link to it. One of the two cases was in Georgia in the Fulton County courts and another was in South Carolina in the Anderson County court.
As for case law check out these links. I am sure if I took the time I could find others. All of these links are from Federal Court action.

Case 1 was a trucking company manager not a driver. Not even applicable to running outlaw as a driver. If anything it proves that as a driver running outlaw under a company your likely to be able to just tell the court they forced you to do it and get off scot free like those drivers did.
Case 2 was already linked and addressed on page 8 IIRC. you can read my response back their.
Case 3 they murdered 2 people and they all got away with a slap on the wrist. Can you prove my point any better for me?
In none of the cases listed was a driver Jailed for running illegally after being found not at fault in the accidents mentioned.
