I do food service now just in box trucks though so I don't have to have a CDL. What would be a good route to go about getting on with a company that will help me get my CDL? I would like to try companies like US Foods or Coca Cola or I would love to deliver beer. Would my food service experience help my chances? I was just looking for a company that would get me my CDL A's.

He will get a message now that I tagged him, so just sit tight. He's the resident TTR guru on all things trucking/employment related.

These companies hire drivers and you only need "cdl permit."
    Sygma Network
    Gordon Food Service
    McLane Company
In case you can't find it on the website; they do hire cdl permit holders.

Ok thanks. I had my permit once before but I let it expire. I took all the practice tests on here and only got 2 wrong so getting it again should be no problem.

Mike2345876565689876 :)-) ) on here works for GFS.

Sygma is Sysco's franchise restaurant arm.

McLane probably pays the best in the industry, you earn every penny of it

I thought Sysco also would hire permit guys, but chinatown would know more than me.

    Mike2633 and Chinatown Thank this.

Sysco might hire cdl permit holders, but I couldn't find it on the website.

    1) Wait, first you stated you would love to deliver beer. How do you know this? Have you ever done this type of work before?
i don't care if beer paid $40/hr i probably wouldn't do it, but that's just me.

Do you have any Republic National distributors in your area? You could probably get on easy with them. But i hope you're young, in good shape, and aren't afraid of work.......

i've done food service before, and yes i can't really complain about the money, but for me to ever reconsider it, it would have to be with the right company, right route, and trucks i actually like.

    Mike2633 and LoneCowboy Thank this.
