While I disagree with your kum-ba-yah work philosophy and, just by inference from your post, believe that lack of initiative is a large contributing factor to your meager income, CRST is well known for profiting by taking advantage of ill-informed drivers. Your role-with-the-punches personality is better suited to a company driver job.

I do agree with you about the sad state of our nation though. I truely believe it is beyond repair. In about 10 or 12 years when my kids are grown and on their own, my wife and I plan to leave and never return also. We're thinking maybe Belize or possibly a remote village in the Carpathian Mtns of Slovakia. Who knows where we'll go, but we will definitely go.

All companies are ONLY interested in getting a load picked up and delivered on time, NOT the drivers success. Your willingness to let the company control everything without question was your downfall. Take it as a learning experience and good luck in the future.

Aside from the personal info, what he said was spot on. I wasn't a l/p with them, and it seemed like whenever you tried to contact anybody, all you got was voice mail. The final straw was in a safety meeting, and this weiner said "we have people; I mean, we have DRIVERS....." That about sums up their attitude. I left right then and there, and deadheaded home. What's hilarious is that they put on my DAC that I was fired.

I've thought about leaving the country. I quit driving 4 years ago to take care of my parents. I drove for 20 years and banked alot of money. I will probably inherit a somewhat significant amount of money.
So, I could go back to trucking with long hours and constantly increasing bs. Not to mention the risks and bad health effects.
Or I could live a very comfortable life in the Philippines or Thailand or somewhere else.
The choice doesn't appear too difficult.
It seems the op has $12000. I would want much more.
I am in my 40's. I could sleep and shower as much as I wanted. And not have to find a big parking space first !

There's some over in the Prime forum, but I think they just repeat it over and over in an attempt to convince themselves. Nobody else is buying it.

Leasing a truck to go into business as an O/O isn't a problem. Lease purchasing or Lease renting through the company you drive for and letting them manage you is the issue.

I did the math on leasing a truck from a dealer several years ago. It was gonna be more expensive than owning. Leasing from a company is the most expensive way to get a truck. The people that do it usually have no money.
My opinion is drive a company truck and save some real money for a down payment or pay cash.
Some people are paying around four thousand a month.
I have owned 2 new trucks. They deprecated about $.10/miles. That's about $1000/month. And I can own it forever and no penalty for excessive mile.
Leasers want to claim it makes sense. But it is the most expensive way to go by far, most of the time.
Don't understand why someone just has to own a truck when they have no money. Plenty of company jobs.
