It is a decent road so far. I made it to Amargosa Valley before having to shut down. At a lovely little place with a brothel attached called Area 51. Saw another Abilene truck here when I pulled in and chatted with they guy for a few. He says he runs this way a lot and while there's hardly any real places to stop, there are pull outs along the way if you are brave enough to camp out on them. We're headed for the same place. Funny thing, his Qualcomm says it's a drop as well, so we'll see. He'll be headed out about 3 hours before me though. Would've been nice to run with someone else in the wee hours of the morning. Oh vey! I don't do well at 0200! I just have to keep telling myself it's really 0500!

Well, I've run the gamut for weather today. Started out 52 degrees and in the dead of night (ugh!), hit dog so thick I couldn't see 2 feet in front of me about 75 miles up the road. Then had rain/sleet/snow in Tonopah. And as soon as I got to Sparks, yup, snowed so hard couldn't even see the road. It's pretty much gone now. Getting unloaded here at Volvo. Then over to Massimo Zanetti for a load going to Santa Fe Springs CA. Safeway-Von's. Not excited about that delivery. LA traffic on a Friday afternoon and no hours to play with. Off to figure out my route from here to there.

Down 395 to Bishop, Four Corners and it brings you onto 15 at the pilot in Hesperia.

Is that a better route than, say, going west to Sacramento and then south on either 99 or I-5?

That's exactly the way I was heading. That dandy mapbook comes in handy sometimes!

Be safe, it's a very long and lonely drive.

I had that same ride this morning in the wee hours. Ugh! Mind started wandering and went to that crazy movie Feom Dusk til Dawn about the vampires in the bar in the middle of nowhere. Gave myself the wilies.
