Bridge signs stick out to me like the bright sun. Personally, I believe I would have called a wrecker or the police. They will close the road and assist you with backing up. When the unthinkable happens, and don't think that it can't happen to you, stop, take a deep breadth and think clearly on how to safely fix the problem without incurring damage.

If I were that guy, I would have called a cab to the bus station to get home.
I've encountered a low bridge once in my career that wasn't marked, sent there by a receiver's directions, backed up by the truck GPS. It was in Cleveland, iirc, thru a tight T intersection and then an S-curve. I had to call police to stop traffic so I could back out, the intersection had large buildings on both corners, so zero visibility backing out.

Yeah that video has made the rounds. Happened to me in Jersey. Put the flashers on, got out and looked around. Found an alley behind a closed business that had two docks. Got lucky. Returned to a few blaring horns. Oh well.

This is old news.the video is all over this forum.he's became quite the celebrity..I've never hit a low bridge i have had to stop because I went the wrong way and there's the low bridge.so I've called 911 to block the street so i could back out of it and get directions back to the interstate. You have to be extra cautious in cities and towns that are full of low bridges like Chicago You don't let the heavy traffic bother you, safety first.

    (From the camera car)

There is a road to the left. Big wide turn. All he had to do was hit his hazards, swing into the oncoming traffic lane and back up where absolutely no one would run up behind him, and make the left turn.
