Is "full time", 40-hours a week, nothing more?

For over the road (OTR), most companies pay meterage (by the km/mile). Some OTR and most local or specialty companies pay by the hour. Overtime pay is mandatory in Canada. For OTR drivers involved in interprovincial and international transport, the federal rules specify overtime pay after 60 hours.
If the carrier is not involved in interprovincial transport, then the labour laws of the province they are domiciled in will be in effect.

If an employee is not getting overtime pay, nor has a collective employee agreement that specifies what compensation they get in lieu of pay, then the company is breaking the law.

Thank you. You are absolutely correct. I work 70 hours a week. I get paid OT for any hours worked above 60. Now are the smaller carriers doing this? Probably not. OT after 40 is only if you don't cross a border and operate within 200 km of your domicile( if memory serves me. )

Break up is just around the corner and things are only going to get worse. I am in Northern BC and travel to Alberta frequently. Things are not good. In Calgary there are massive layoffs and people are losing there homes. In Fort St. John there was a job fair last Friday and it looked like a scene from the Great Depression.

Not just, there is a new Burger King opening in town. But none of this is really funny.

You are absolutely right on that. Even a jump in oil prices is not going to help Canadians working in oil and gas with the current political attitude.

Thanks. It's been quite a while since I have, but with the slowdown in the patch, I figured what the heck, I might as well do something.
