There are some Facebook groups where you can find out about agents and such, but their closed groups and you have to be a BCO to join them.'

I know you want to own a truck and be your own boss, but stay comapny. Take the 90 grand and invest it into something with a real return. Yes, a truck can and will make you more money if you are smart and have business sense. But longterm, invest into something better. A truck can be bought anytime especially when a lot of these guys start selling because they couldn't make it.

I think that this year will be a good one to buy equipment, I think that a lot of guys will go under or sell.Gottfried, alien4fish and Pharroh336 Thank this.
-
Only thought I would have on a truck is to think about the post-99 ELD mandate coming next year. I bought a 2013 and kick myself sometimes.
Where and what type of freight do you hope to run? That affects what you get for equipment. Some places and CA have age limits. -
Anywhere except CA, Chicago, Indiana, and NYC. Dry van.
-
I go to Chicago and through it fairly often. Only issue is 'rush hour' for planning. You lose a lot of customers on Chicago banning. Ditto for IN. No experience with NYC so no recommendation.
I listen to Trucking With Authority by Kenny Long. Lots of good info. GL to you. -
May I ask what it is that makes this year so bad? And do you think it will affect rookie company drivers coming right out of CDL school?
-
Election season always efffs the economy up. Trucking is always the first one hit in a down swing
-
Election year, they are never good years in this business, people seem to not spend much. Oil prices are also way down, which puts alot of trucks into the general freight market that aren't typically there.
The only thing that might affect a rookie is decreased miles, there's been company drivers that have left the industry due to low miles.
