I'm out of Louisiana and I'm currently in CDL school. I've been working in chemical plants forever now interested in driving.

Anything is possible with persistence. I'm in a field where 99% of companies require experience

You might want to look at other work, The oil fields arent doing very well because of the oil glut and crude prices are way down, a lot of the Frackers are going out of business.
You can find something out there, Good luck and welcome to the trucking industry

With the contacts you have could you talk to the transportation department and look into chemical tankers? It pays well and may be what your looking for. That being said you will have to jump through a few hoops.

With oil being what it is right now I would hold off on that idea - just my .02!

I've had people over the past year who were in oil field ask me and fellow drivers at my competitors like Sysco and US Foods about the food world, because the oil world kind of dried up. Unlike us in the food world I swear they have us positioned for growth and more growth.

Chemical tanker that's nothing I'm interested in doesn't make it bad it's just not my thing if it's your thing god bless you, but that sounds way better then oil field probably pays better works more steady I know those chemical shipments can be very expensive so probably pretty organized.

You can look into fuel delivery to gas station as well .

But oilfield , unless you want to sit at home not being paid for dispatch to call you once every 5 days for a couple hours... I would avoid it.

not impossible but one of the harder jobs to land right out of school. Along with mike id suggest looking into food service. Get on with a good outfit and you can possibly see 65,000+ your first year if you get your grind on. Home everyday or almost everyday and one of the few driving jobs where you can get a mon-fri schedule
