The only way you'll know how good your technician is is to compare his work to another technician. Otherwise you're not in a position to be judging that first technician unless of course all of his customers talk 40 miles.

People listen to me play my cb noise toy on the intercom speakers in the truck stop restaurant. Cb shop said I have an old Crystal cb radio. With a modulation kit . And it's peaked and tuned , it's doing about 30 watts.

Besides the local guys I have used 3 that are on line. Bells CB is also a brick and mortar store not just online. Honest, great communications and awesome work and service. Fast shipping, knowledgable and friendly. Again 5 Stars in my books

I've read nothing but good things about Bells CB online so I emailed them after hours, asking for help on choosing my first 10m radio. They replied to my email first thing the next morning and during hours replied to my subsequent emails within 20 to 30 minutes. Great customer service from what seems to be a very busy shop.

I ordered a Galaxy 98VHP to be tuned and some extra power wire this past Thursday march 3rd. They said they are backed up about a week so if my radio ships out by the weekend I'll be happy. But I'll be happy if it takes an extra week as long as the work is done right and based on the reviews Ive been reading, I think it will be.

Anyways I just wanted to add to this thread to say that so far I'm happy with the service and I will post again once I have the radio hooked up and running.

If I'm only getting 5 miles on that radio then it's going right back. I should get 10 miles with a coat hanger.

I actually talked 6 or so miles with a coat hanger once...I was 13, and talking on a 1973 23-channel Dynascan 29... with a coat hanger with some copper wire wrapped around it plugged straight into the antenna jack...

I look back on it and cringe now... but also have a good belly-laugh. Oh, this was in the hills of eastern Pennsylvania too... and all while INSIDE my grandmother's house in Tamaqua. Almost want to pass through just so I can ask if The Shoe or Coal Cracker got a copy... they probably don't though.

I was being facetious of course. Since he only uses a meter to tune a radio and he does not have any understanding of how to use his oscilloscope and the scope is simply there to impress his customers he is unable to properly align that equipment and there is absolutely no way for any radio that leaves that bench to operate at its full potential. A stock Cobra 29 will outperform any radio that leaves his bench.

If you're ever looking for a long-distance Radio check and you happen to be in northeast Pennsylvania and you would like to know whether or not you got your money's worth I'll be more than happy to park one of my vehicles next to you and have my girlfriend talk on the radio with a stock Uniden PC 76 and I will drive up the interstate to see which one Fades out of my receive first and I guarantee the stock Uniden PC 76 will still be making it into my receiver long after you have faded out of my receive . This comes after years and years of experience . I'm sorry I didn't realize I was having a conversation with someone who doesn't understand the purpose of test equipment. Have a nice day and enjoy your radio.
