Its difficult for me to post links with my smart phone. Right now I'm without internet. I do hope some of the postings have settled this 10,000 pound question about trailer weight and a CDL. If not I can do it at the library in the morning.
How does a PA Driver/vehicle inspection affect me?

OK it looks like I am in error. I can't post the link right now but the 10,000 pound trailer weight thing is only if the power unit is a CMV. I have always tried to post accurate information in these forums. My apologies for dropping the ball on this one.

To the OP. Because I was not there I can not make a judgment about what happened. But I am getting the impression something happened between you and this officer after you was stopped for speeding. Certified DOT cops once they stop will ask for all of this information. My best advice is to get with your employer and give serious thought about hiring an attorney knowledgeable in DOT law.

Sorry something fishy here.....no question at 15 over you pissed him off....so he thru everything at you he could.....but as mentioned before.....he showed you oos on the inspection form and let you go? Secondly you have no cdl&if vehicle truly required it...you could not proceed...nor could you proceed w/out med cert....as for weights Im sure he is going off vehicle registrations for those....but if pick up is heavy enough to be registered commercial inPA....it would require a PA wt class sticker in windshield.....and if it didn't he would/could issue other citation.....and from way I read your post...only actual citation you received was speeding....rest were noted on inspection form which in itself does not carry fines only cvsa points....which he may have stacked jus to make your companies life miserable now that they have to apply...IMHO...YOU&YOUR employer need to start by bringing all of this to your local barracks&talk to a Lt or above(every pa bear is also dot/cvsa certified)&ask for an explanation/interpretation nicely of course....then find a good PA transportation attorney (your insurance carrier should be able to help find one)take everything to the attorney....including everythin you learned from the local barracks&put it all in attys hand&follow his/her lead....until then...admit nothing....pay nothing...plead nothing....good luck

I still don't see anything in regards to a 10k trailer unless the combination exceeds 26k. Or the or the tow vehicle exceeds 26k. -

That means that it's a commercial vehicle. Not that it requires a CDL.
