Yep, the cheap way doesn't always work the best. When I got my cdl it was simply walking in to the DMV and paid $10.00 for it. Still went to a school afterwards because that's what I wanted to do, not because I had to.
I wanted that diploma from a school and ignored the naysayers. Not everyone wants to take short cuts. They're regular posts on here from people that got the cdl on their own and now can't understand why they can't find work. Sure, some will eventually find something, but why go through all that when it's not necessary?
Why pay for truck school when some co'.s train you for free ???

Companies change though, lots of great companies from the past aren't worth much now. Something to keep in mind. -
Just like my company. I hate it as of late and want out. Fast. Like effing now. Slowly but surely those "hey when are you ready to roll" has turned into "your going here tomorrow"......and if you say no...your going to sit or get sent on a terrible run.

There are companies that provide free school/training that are not bottom feeders. They do require a commitment, but pay you to come to school by the hour.
