Mark - I think we misunderstand each other. I really am not here to fight with you, believe it or not. Nor am I here to hear myself talk LOL... I just want solutions after a year of problems.

However, the unit I have has irritated me badly, and admittedly I am rather impatient when it comes to answers, especially after a year of fighting with it. I'm sure you can understand that. On your recommendation, I checked the SD card... Well, well,well...

Thank you for that bit of info. So maybe a non-HC card and the upcoming update will finally fix this thing.

Believe it or not, I do empathize in some way - I studied computer programming in college and can imagine it is very frustrating to deal with the same issues again and again.

But as I said, it simply isn't feasible for most of us to browse such a huge thread. Average workday out here is 12 hrs, without much more time than it takes for dinner, shower and sleep in between. In the words of Robert Frost, we have promises to keep, and miles to go before we sleep.

Never asked for you to read the whole thread. Studies have shown most users only go back 3-5 pages, hence the constant repeating of the same thing.

I would upgrade to a Class 10 card though. 2.5 times faster in the read process. You can get them for about $10-$13. Pretty cheap.

Since you have had Computer training PM me your E-Mail and I will send you a procedure on how to do an MD5 (sum checking) on your NaviMaps. Once I get that I can tell if you have corrupted files in your NaviMaps. IF you do I can tell you how to "trick" the Dock into forcing a new map download again. It will require also deleting a hidden folder on your PC that the Dock uses.

This also goes for anybody else in doubt if they have a good download of NaviMaps on any model. The MD5 will allow me to compare your files to a good known set and it will tell me what files are bad. Unfortunately the Dock will not allow individual files to be downloaded so the Entire NaviMaps will have to be downloaded again.

Freezing on a 720 is not common for this last version. Slowness or lagging is.

    Thanks,
    Mark

I'm pretty sure he has the Via's in there to force the unit to use an alternate route so if there was an alternate route function then the Via's would be an non issue as the unit would route him on the roads that he wants to take and would not constitute a stop of any kind.
Some systems eg: Google Maps, CoPilot let you drag the map around on the screen to change the route to your liking, maybe that's the answer.

He does, but the TND treats Stop's as Via's also.. SO he is looking for the time to his next true stop it would not show, only the time to the final stop. And if he switches to Legs, then if it is a Via then that is not a true stop.

I see the issue and we are going to try to address it.

    Thanks,

I think you have to let the whole Via thing go. If you plot a destination then put in multiple stops, you have a route set up. Now you want to bypass a downtown area so you alter the route but you Don't use a Via to do that. After you alter the route your first stop will be the same as before and should show up if you set the preference to show next stop instead of total trip.
The word VIA means " by way of " and should never be treated as a stop.

I agree to a point. Via should be for the TripMaker import.

Personally, on multi-stop loads, I would just enter each stop as a separate trip as I cleared the previous rather than fight with this. I have had numerous issues with the planned route changing after something as simple as a fuel stop.

Mark - you mentioned auto-recalc earlier. I don't see that option anywhere, though I did find a "auto fast recalc" in preferences... is that what you're referring to?

Preferences/Route/Recalculation - Manual or Auto. If set to Manual if you go off route the TND will not recalculate. The route line will still be there and when you come back onto the route line the TND will resume its function.

    Thanks,

I have always used Manual Recalc but have found that if u stay off route for any length of time or for any distance u will have to hit the recalc button as the unit will not resume by itself even if you are on the road that it was following prior to going off route. Prob a set time/distance restriction or it just wants to be touched LOL

I've been known to use vias to force an alternate route. Trouble is, that doesn't always work as planned either. LOL
