So they fixed my apu, I have my curtains closed and it on full blast and set it to the coldest setting but my cab still gets hotter than hell. Cold air comes from the vent underneath the bunk but it doesn't circulate, is that normal. I'm in az right now and it's 100 inside my cab with the apu on

    He's in a lightweight freight.

What I would always do is run the truck with the air on full blast to precool it once it was chilly I would close everything off and kick on the APU. The air on the APU will maintain the temp, but I have found that it won't cool the truck down if it has already gotten hot in the truck. Also, you may want to get some reflective window shades as they will make a huuuge difference in the ability of the truck to keep cool.

Do you have curtains to cover your windshield and door windows? If not, take your bunk curtain so it goes behind your sun visors and covers the windshield. That'll help with cutting down the huge amount of heat coming in the cab.

If you have those short wrap around window curtains use them to cove your side widows because they are useless for blocking the heat that is coming from your windshield.

Second, next time you're in a big walmart, go to the household section where they sell curtains and look for the Walmart house brand black out thermal curtains. You'll need to buy 2 packages of the 84" length (last time I checked they were $12 each), a package of large safety pins (you'll need about 30), and a big roll of velcro (enough to go across the top of the windshield and along the doors). Should cost you no more turn $50 for all of this.

Once you get eveything take the velcro and cut the soft side of it in half hot dog bun style leaving the hard side alone. Talk the soft side and use the safety pins to pin it to one side of the long side of the curtains. Then take the safety pins you have left and pin together the the two panels at one end so it's one long continous panel.

Now take the hard side of the velcro and attach it to the very top of the glass on the windshield, a 3-4 inch piece on each corner post between the windshield and the doors, and then a long piece above the doors right back to past your seat belt.

Now the curtains will do 3 things, first it'll block the heat out and drop the temp by 10-20 degrees. Second it'll make it #### near pitch black in the cab so you can sleep in the middle of the day. Finally, it'll give you privacy in the entire cab instead of just having the bunk curtain.

The other thing you'll need to do is com the truck down with the truck ac and then in the hot weather like that switch the apu to manual run by just hitting the start button because on autostart it will let the truck warm up 5-6 degrees before it kicks back on. It's hard to cool it back down after that.

Once it's on manual run, but the fan button on the control panel and make sure it says "fan auto". If it doesn't use the left/right arrow keys to cycle through until you see it and then click select. This will increase and decrease the fan speed as it maintains the temp in the cab.

I know the curtains I just described sound like a stupid thing, but you'll love them come summer and winter because they'll help keep the cab warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Also, if you end up trying to sleep during the day it's great having it completely dark in the cab.

The other to get is one of the heat vent redirection covers so you can point the air up faster then the stupid little vent that's on there can do.

    Good luck

I dont know if you have a TK but in mine The TK dealer told me to get a 12 volt fan and put it in front of the cab facing the sleeper. Have the APU ac on high and it will circulate the air better that way. I did it all last year and even in Vegas during the summer at 120 outside My sleeper stayed around 76 or so not as cold as I like it but definitely able to sleep that way :) also I agree with the ones saying precool the cab with AC on full blast before you shut down

    darthanubis Thanks this.
