I was being difficult. What he wrote assumed every 53' trailer had a 3' setback kingpin, which ain't necessarily so.

Also btw. The California 40 foot issue we're discussing is not truly a "bridge law" I've read that California instituted this when 53 foot trailers were introduced and they immediately began seeing problems at some of the tight entrance and exit ramps scattered around the state.
