Traffic is full and in a mile you have to use a left exit... so when can you get In the left lane to take that turn without getting a ticket?
My bf is a new otr driver and just got a ticket a few minutes ago for being in the left lane but his exit was coming up in a mile on the left and traffic was full. So what is he suppose to do... wait till the exit and stop traffic trying to get over... I mean geeezzz... Not very many people know how to be courteous of these big fellas and they could smoosh your little prius ###.

"Usually" you will see a sign prior to left exits "End Truck Lane Control" or something like that. Otherwise a rule of thumb might be about .5-1 mile before.

Very helpful. Thank you. I have another maybe you could help me with. I'm currently a full time college student and would like to travel with him till I finish and then I'm going for driving school so we can team up. Is there an internet to hook up for traveling? Cause catching wifi on the road just won't cut it. ?

going west on 35 getting on 65 out of Indianapolis. There was cops everywhere. Both sides of the road and on the bridge above.

Good old Marion County... I would tell your BF to hire a lawyer... You want to protect your CDL and keep it squeaky clean...

Thanks so much. It was just a summons but I wanted to make sure for future reference cause I would like to drive too. I'm going to install his dash cam when he returns so he has video to prove himself in any other incidences.

That is a high dollar ticket (improper lane usage), not to mention the CSA score. I know the ramps for 865 from 465, and 65N @ 465 have no "end truck lane restriction" signs posted, so I've been comfortable getting in the left lane at 2 miles prior. But I've never read the law about doing so.
