I am seriously considering heading out again and the only company that I am looking into with any great interest is TMC. I want you TMC guys to talk to me straight up and tell me what I can expect. I have done the flatbed thing before and I prefer it to hauling a van.
Basically what I want to know is, how does the company work for you guys? Would you recomend them to someone else to work for?
How much northeast do they do? I live in north central Ohio, and I really hate running NYC, so I'll have to know if that's a problem. If you guys and gals who run for them could give me any information that you think could be useful, I would certainly appreciate it.

Patience is a virtue. I know, you know, we are out working and usually respond to post on the weekends.

Yeah, I know. I just wanted to keep it towards the top so it wouldn't get lost at the bottom, ya know?

I have been a driver with TMC for about 1.5 years. I have been Long Haul, Line Haul and dedicated. I am currently a Line Haul driver from Austin, TX.

I cannot answer your question about freight in the Northeast from personal experience. While Long Haul I did fequently go to the Northeast. From my perspective the Northeast is anywhere East of the Mississippi River North of Texas. This would include some states West of the Mississippi River also.

All kidding aside, TMC does haul freight in the Northeast. As a general rule figure you will be loading and delivering freight in a 600 mile radius of your house. You can state your preferences, but you have to go where the freight is.

I am happy with TMC and will unconditionally recommend it to any driver, experienced and inexperienced alike.

Thank you Terry. I have all but decided that TMC is where I want to be. Just kind of waiting for the right time to make the move back. Can you tell me how long do they put a trainer with you? That's a pretty serious hurdle for me for some reason. Some places that I have looked into have said that I would have to ride with a trainer for up to 6 weeks. I just can't get used to that idea.

Even training for an inexperienced driver is only five weeks. Depending on how you do in your accelerated orientation, you will go out with a trainer for either two or four weeks. If you have verifiable flatbed experience and do well on your load securement classes and driving test you may be with a trainer for a shorter period. Some experienced drivers get their own truck immediatly. Regardless of what the recruiter says, training will make these types of decisions.
