Heck, if that happened to me. Just by me the light and we are golden.. Crap happens...
Sad he caught the trl. But he manned up on the deal -
Most of you sound like o/o with your own equipment saying it's stupid to report that. While I tend to agree, think of it from a driver perspective. Now, I'll admin to making an assumption that this was a company driver hauling the trailer, based off him calling his dispatcher. That being the case if he didn't report it, and the next time he's in the yard and someone sees the new damage it's now a preventable on him as he has no proof otherwise.

I don't think he has to sue me, he can just contact the insurance
That's what I am afraid of. The dispatch was actually the company owner. When the driver refused me to repair it, because his dispatcher did not want that, I asked to speak to him. The dispatch asked me to give his driver all my info, when I asked him why does he need that info over a marker light, he said that his trailer is freshly painted. Umm, no, there are rust spots and small dings all over the trailer. He threatened to call the police and at that point I decided that might be a better idea, since they note the damages and he won't be able to charge anything he wants to me in the future. I also asked the TA mechanics to come out to take a look and they wrote on my invoice that trailer only needs a marker light and a piece of tape. They were surprised just as me that guy did not want it fixed right away. I don't know if cops (two of them) found that funny, but they said they gotta follow the procedure and write a report
You are almost right, that was an owner operator with company's trailer and he did not want to get any troubles. -
So are you in jail yet? Did you lose your house, car, truck, wife and kids?
taxihacker66 Thanks this. -

Called the boss on Friday, asked him if he saw the trailer and what does he think about it. He said he saw it, but can't say anything yet, because another department handles it. I don't know what other department, because as I understood its only him and another lady run everyhing, but whatever, there was no point of me arguing, so I said OK, let's talk again when the other department checks it out.
I have a feeling he's gonna be waiting for the police report to show up online to see what's in there and then decide what can he do against metaxihacker66 Thanks this. -
I'm a company driver and I'd let him fix it. I'd feel like a douche if I called the law.ramblingman and taxihacker66 Thank this.

The guy was an as- hole what an idiot it just goes to show what we are working with out here now days .If you hit someone or something on private property the police can write an incident report but it should in no way effect your driving record when I was new I hit a truck at a flying j the police took statements but said they had nothing to do with it because it was on private property.
