By time wise I mean appointment times, are your just squeezing the clock or are you pretty good in that department? -
I drive 60mph and never have an problem making appointments. Speed has nothing to do with making appointments.
Opus, RootHog and drvrtech77 Thank this. -
How are you doing on MPG?

FallingLeaf Thanks this.

Going slower you also burn more time off your 70 which costs you.
I'll give an example to show how.
At $1.50 all miles
Driver A: average speed of 50 MPH, fuel 8.5 MPG, drives 8 hours a day
Driver B: average speed of 60 MPH, fuel 7 MPG, drives 8 hours a day
At $2 a gallon.. fuel costs
Driver A: $659
Driver B: $960
However driver B would have driven an extra 560 miles in the same amount of driving time.
At $1.50 that's an extra $840, then subtract the extra fuel costs of $301 and driver B ends up earning basically an extra $500 for the week.
I don't know about you all but I'd rather go faster and earn more money.
I stay out weeks at a time...
Going faster = more revenue per my 70 available hours = more than makes up the difference in fuel costs = more income for me.
I used the $1.50 example but I operate higher than that which makes the difference even more.
I just wanted to point out going slow doesn't always mean more money for you.
Everybody will have a different operation though.
Usually I'm being forced to faster just to squeeze my 2-3-4 loads on my 14.
Yeah if I'm on my last load going home, have the time and etc I will go slower.
All depends.Last edited: Mar 17, 2016
Dominick253 and FallingLeaf Thank this. -
If somebody wants to be home each day though they better not come here and would be better off having a dedicated job such as yourself.CaptainDaveG Thanks this. -
