Just interviewed with GFS today. Sounds like a pretty good company. I'm a former Sysco and US Foods driver so I've been around the foodservice industry for a while. I didnt get a chance to ask about the benefits, particularly time off. My current job I work anywhere from 50-60 plus hours per week and only get a week off for the 1st three years and no sick time or personal days. Does anyone here work for GFS or know about benefits?

Well glad to see your becoming part of the team I work far away on the west side of the GFS Allegheny Valley Division which is Pittsburgh/Imperial Distributing.
Lets see first year you get a week of vacation and some personal time so no having to wait 10 years or what ever to get a day off.
Now me I didn't really know about any of that so I pretty much worked the whole year except for one day when the boss gave me a day off. You can build up to 300 hours of vacation time or something like that and then I think you get 5 personal days, plus vacation days how ever much time you have acquired. Now the sick time and personal days are things where if you don't use them use lose them, like me I lost them last year because I took literally no time off I had one day at the end of the year the boss just gave me a day off said I worked hard all year and they knew I was going to lose all my time, so they felt bad, however that's my problem not really anyone else's problem.
You'll get health insurance and vacation and personal days the first year at GFS no games like the other places. I'm not going to post our pay rate on here but you'll be alright. I made low 70's last year if that tells you what the pay is like.
Not bad, I don't know where your located or what yard or warehouse you are out of?Keithdabarber, SodaDriver, Shaggy and 1 other person Thank this. -
Thanks for the info. It sounds really good. The warehouse is somewhere out of GA and I'm located in TN. And yeah I'd be very happy with that pay. Do you work 5 days a week?
-
Shew, nice Mike. Not bad for the first year. I just cleared 65k last year, but I was off for six weeks with an injury, and I try not to log much more than 40 hrs/week.
We offer insurance bennies from day one, and a big ### sign on bonus. Not sure how true that is in GA, but I know they just picked up a bunch of new work. I assume they're hurting for drivers. I think our Memphis DC is in the same boat.
GFS would be my #2 choice. It's a lot farther from home for me, or I might be there.Mike2633 Thanks this. -
Soda haven't heard from you in a while how have you been?

Gordon's just built a warehouse somewhere around Atlanta area. The company had like 5 new warehouses go up this year. Yes last year between my 2 months at the beer company and the rest of the year at GFS I made 66K.
Now from March-2015-March-2016 at GFS I made $70K well a tad over $70K, but pretty much $70K on the noise.
To get that 70K though it consisted of working every Holiday doing back hauls, doing a lot of extra stuff, getting really lucky for a first year rookie driver and being able to score a really sweet gravy buko bucks Christmas Day Volume truck and transit run of course I was very proactive. There are other jobs at Gordon's besides just delivering and those are the jobs you want to get weather it be transit or volume truck. Volume truck is great. Transits good to though I'd do either.
Its what you make it, if your willing to run doubles when need be and get back hauls and help out and keep your truck up and stuff and provide very good customer service you'll get through and make out good.
I average around 3,000+ cases a week probably drive 400 miles a week. Work 5 days a week sometimes we work on Saturdays usually though that has more to do with the Holiday scheduled.
