Anyone know anything about Kelley Transportation, sister company to Dayton Freight? I found a post from 09 griping about them but I'd like to get current info.

@Bob Dobalina may have some info.
-
I wish I did. I've never actually talked to a Kelley driver (but I always wave at them!). I've heard they are completely separate from Dayton Freight, doing regular truckload OTR-type stuff. I'm pretty sure they're home on the weekends, so more like "regional" as opposed to nationwide OTR, out several weeks at a time. But I'm not sure about pay or anything else. Sorry I can't help more.Pintlehook and Longarm Thank this.

One thing I do know is that the equipment is top notch. I've never seen a raggedy Kelley truck or trailer.
Longarm Thanks this. -
Sneaky Dayton...I went to apply for a linehaul position out of Cleveland and at the bottom in small print it says, This position is with Dayton's sister company Kelley.
Hoping a Kelley driver hangs around here. -
Was that on Dayton's site, or on a job board type of site? Pretty sneaky, I agree!
-
It was on Dayton's site but I've figured it out. In the upper left of their job search, you can select Kelley or Dayton. I must've had Kelley selected and didn't realize it.
Still curious to hear about Kelley if anyone has info. -
Just saw this thread. I was a lot more active on this forum when I was in CDL school last year researching companies to work for. I haven't been on here much lately as I have been too busy driving for Kelley

As @Bob Dobalina said above, Kelley is Dayton Freight's truckload division and pretty much operated as a stand-alone company. A small-company atmosphere with big-company resources, kind of the best of both worlds.
Kelley is regional, the service area map is here: http://kelleytrans.com/ServiceArea.aspx
It is actually a little more extensive than shown on the map, I have run to VA and the Carolinas several times. No NYC or Canada. Home every weekend.
I have been with them 9 months now, straight out of CDL school, and have been very happy. The management team is great, they listen to the drivers.
Equipment is nice, I am driving a 2015 International Prostar automatic with APU and inverter.
I am probably sounding like a company cheerleader, but I honestly have nothing bad to say.Bob Dobalina Thanks this. -
@Miles Ohio - Where are you based? Do you park at a Dayton terminal? We have 1 Kelley driver who parks at our terminal in Columbus.
