I know how it works. I am going to submit my claims, wait for a response, and of not satisfied that it is fair, then I certainly will sue. I've been damaged as a result of their neglegence, and thats all I have to prove.
I don't understand how you could possibly say they had everything in place, when this issue in fact was made public back in November 2015, and they neglected to officially recall it for 4 months! The only thing they can relish in is that there were no serious tragedies that happened as a result, yet. But that doesn't go to their credit, it only underscores the seriousness of the nature of the problem and the lack of proactive preparedness on their part, hence neglect.
I am fair. I will give them first the opportunity to make whole, or as close to whole, as they can. But until the part is actually replaced, for me anyway, the danger still exists. And they'd #### well better be sure this "temp fix" works, because as of right now, they have compromised the public trust and the integrity of our safety. You may choose to give them a pass, but I am not as forgiving after realizing where I've been and something could have gone terribly wrong that could have cost me and the motoring public our lives.KB3MMX Thanks this. -
At least they handeld it better then Ford did with the Pinto
-
I stated clearly up front they said publicly they were working on a temp solution and would have one in place by Tuesday or Wednesday of this week, and they did. Of course it's going to take time to process 20k trucks.
I'm certain that Volvo is aware of the public relations debacle this could lead to as well as the litigious nature of what's happening. I can assure you that they have teams of lawyers on their side lining up for the slip & fall lawyers lurking on the edges.
You keep beating a dead horse. We all get how serious this could have been. Take a deep breath, submit your request to Volvo for losses you believe are due and go from there.
In the meantime, why don't you start your own thread here on TTR if you're hell bent on starting a legal crusade, instead of piggybacking on my posts. I won't be joining in anytime soon. As I've already stated, I intend to wait and go through the channels presented to me for reimbursement of my downtime. If Volvo doesn't make it right, I'll take it to the next level.
Once again, I wish you well and hope everything turns out favorably for you! -
And I am free to post where I so choose. Do you own this thread? -
The one they issued in November was for it to be inspected and torque on the bolt checked. This got modified after they found a few with the roll pins missing. There was a few that failed after that inspection was done that prompted the single shaft version. Sadly the parts had to come from overseas is the delay. So that is why they have the temp fix to get everyone back on the road.
-
This is true. But the issue is for the same reasons, the shaft would come apart. But then why didn't they issue the second recall then when they realized it during the first recall, instead of waiting 4 months to replace them? They could have used that time to produce the single shafts. You cannot tell me they didn't suspect this would become an issue. At least then, when they issued the recall the aecond time, they had everything they needed to permanently fix the problem, not cost all this down time for just a temp fix, and then even more downtime for the permanent one! They don't get a pass from me, no excuse. They knew what they were up against. -
We all get that Volvo isn't getting a pass from you...
You have your point of view and you've shared it over and over again. I'm suggesting you start your own thread where like minded folks such as you can have it, that's all.
Once again, I wish you well.Socal Xpress Thanks this. -
Checked with my local dealer and still no parts available as of yesterday to replace with the single piece shaft.
I hate the idea of drilling out the old shaft as a temporary fix.....seems pretty chinsy and could weaken it considerably. -
They tried to install the temp fix on mine, but said they can't because it is out of spec, too loose. So I can't even have it temporarily fixed.
I called an attorney. They refused to help me get a rental. I can't pay a truck payment on top of a rental fee.
