Hi All,
Been milling around on this site for a while, thought it was about time I signed up. I currently work for a large Chevrolet dealership that deals in a large volume of full size 4x4 extended cab and 4 door pick ups, and we need to take some of the used trades to auction. We currently have a 2016 Cottrell ez5307xl (high mount) but the problem is we can't haul more than 4 full size trucks on that setup. As of now we are in a short term lease (rental) on a 2016 Volvo, and in the process of looking for a nearly new or new tractor. I am of the opinion that instead of investing $140,000 in a tractor to haul a trailer that won't get the job done, I am trying to talk the owner into selling/trading the trailer and getting a daycab stinger with a Cottrell 3 1/2 LST headrack, and CX-09LST trailer set up. Cottrell says this set up will haul 7 full size trucks or 9 cars.
*Any opinions if this would be a good set up for us? If not whats better?
*Anyone have any experience with this setup?
*Considering a Volvo VAH64200 for a tractor, opinions on that as well.
Sorry for the long post, just don't want to make the same mistake that we made with the 5307

What state are you in? Or will be running?
Volvo's are hard to get truck over cab to height without chaining or short strapping. -
I'm in the socialist republic of New York. Huh, Volvo's web site says the drop axle fronts allow a full size truck over the cab. What is a better option in your opinion crb

Oh, and we will be running to the auction in North Carolina

We struggle with our volvos to get to height 13'6 below with half tons. We don't short strap or chain therefore we don't generally put half tons on #1. The new freightliners can get down them to height. We have short rubber too. Ours are not truck trucks though.
Bazook Thanks this. -
We have the truck setups on both Freightliner and Volvo and I haven't seen much difference in the two as far as load height. The Volvos are actually used at the terminal with the largest vehicles. They complain about reliability with the Freightliners but then just bought some more so who knows.
Bazook Thanks this.
