^^^ (and the 3 main guys in this thread are gone, TtoT.)
Agreed, and All the above. They couldn't pay me enough, seeing as the DG and FD stores here in Ohio are NOT accommodating for their drivers to unload. Employees park in the way, and are reticent to move their cars; makes one wonder if they've been told not to.
Wife went to our DG a few months ago, and went in the store and politely asked employees and customers to kindly accommodate the driver that couldn't maneuver around the building, curbs, and cars. She sent me pictures. It was quite awful. She spotted him in, an hour later.
Best to you tho, man. Google-map some of the stores where you will be, if you go that route. Besides the off-loading with rollers, check out the in's and out's to the "dock" ~
Be safe, Driver.TROOPER to TRUCKER Thanks this. -
I was told $90 per unload and $25 per stop. Am I looking at this all wrong or is that $115 per store I deliver to?
-
It "could be" $115 per store, but between 2 and 8 hours to unload, considering HOS and time from one to next, or back to yard, that's not that great of pay. How many do they say you can even "get" in a day? That's the key, man. If only two, eh. Three or four? Perhaps.
-
They have not said how many in the day but I was thinking even if it's to a day that's $230 a day maybe three days a week you're talking 690 bucks a week plus the $.32 a mile. Hopefully it'll be grossing about a grand a week and I'd be happy

I'm on the fence about it. JBH is begging me to do it.
-
If you can do two, plus mileage, that's not bad. JUST BE PREPARED for the awful backing conditions! Humor yourselves and google map some of them by the store name. Not being a Debby Downer here, but many of them are "like really?"
Guess it get's done, tho. They have product; I shop there, too!TROOPER to TRUCKER and Torch139 Thank this. -
I have watched videos on YouTube from unloading at the dollar tree and the dollar general accounts. I would definitely stay away from dollar tree as you have to touch everything and put it on a conveyor belt (that you have to put together ). Dollar General is the roll-trainers that you just role to the hydraulic ramp at the back of the trailer, take it to ground And roll it in the store. That sounds much more appealing.

Yeah...you may have a point. But I'm also looking at it as I get every weekend home (for at least some period of time) which will be good for me just starting out and not knowing a thing about the industry. The thought of being away for 2 to 3 weeks at a time did not sound so great. And to then only get maybe 2 days off! Plus, at my age, I can use the exercise.
