I guess I am learning about the operations of different locations here. My only hourly pay was while I was training. Once I became captain of my own truck I was mileage at the full $0.41 + 0.07 as well as all the other compensated duties. I don't know a thing about the location you are working at. Your questions would lead me to believe that location is much bigger than Effingham. Any questions I would have could be answered directly by the transportation manager. I believe we have about 115 drivers here. You?
Be thankful they did away with the hand unload locations. We still have a dozen or more locations. As far as pushing the pallets, that the S-W health club benefit, no membership fee's at all, free of charge.

Well I started the app process...and then they asked for a resume. Ugh. My resume is on my PC which is in storage and hasn't been updated in 5 or 6 years. I'll get back to it when I get chance.

I have delivered to SW out near the airport (where they race the planes) many times , it comes off as a place worth looking into .
-
Boy it got quiet in here. I hope all is going well and you're all just busy.

I agree Longarm.
How about an update on how things are going for you TMSLOGISTICS? -
Well, I submitted my resume Tues. Haven't heard back yet but I'll take that as a good sign. They aren't desperate.

I have almost 5 yrs experience, started with swift Aug 2011 left them May 2014 got on with these guys same week I quit. When I was with swift I was doing close to 150k a year otr...I know I got the miles because I stay out and run harder than anyone. I don't know anyone doing that kind of miles with a mega company like swift, granted the last two yrs with them I go to bid on loads as a platinum driver so I really didn't sit around waiting for dispatch.
I'm not happy here because I don't get pay for all the extra work...breakdown, no pay, detention pay only on certain accounts. No detention pay on produce. Anyone with experience hauling produce knows you can load in an hour and go wait half a day for the product and run into many unforeseenable issues. I put up with it because I run Midwest to Cali and back every week so the miles are never lacking. But if I can have your type of position I would feel better compensated for my time, not to mention the ability to do resets at home every week.
So I haven't been to the Reno distribution center since that last time. The only time I go to Reno now is when I'm dropping a load at Sysco.
Do you know of they're currently looking for drivers domiciled in vegas? -

Howdy Sprinks, thanks for the quick response, a few other questions if you don't mind...
1. You mentioned it's not uncommon to have paint spills. Do you follow certain company procedures to clean that mess or they have commercial accounts throughout the country? I'd imagine it's not something you can just mop up or have it washed out. Have you ever had a trailer with visible paint residue rejected on the backhaul?
2. Do you run a dedicated route, if so what's the radius of travel? What happens if you run into delays at the receiver or inclement weather thus not able to return home for your 34 reset. In that situation do you reset over the road and if so do you get compensated?
3. The peoplesnet is that minute to minute tracking once you go into driving? What I'm getting at is what if you're parked somewhere and have to move a couple of miles an you stop within certain tim frame and not be logged into drive?
Correction...I meant US foods in Reno I was thinking Sysco in Plesant Grove CA -
Never been rejected from a back haul. I suppose you could if the paint spill hadn't dried.
#2- We run regions. Effingham covers a 13 state area. Dispatch has yet to run me out of hours. I know of a couple situations where a driver ran out of hours 150 miles from the DC and a car was sent out to get them so they could take their reset at home. Most runs go out 500 to 600 miles from the DC.
#3- PeopleNet is real time recording. You have a 30 second count down to come to a complete stop if you travel more than a half mile after changing your duty status from driving before it will put you back on driving status.
Let me try explaining it this way.
You change you duty status from driving to on duty. You can move the truck about a half mile before PeopleNet recognizes your moving. It will then display a 30 second countdown clock. If you do not come to a complete stop before the clock counts down to zero, it will automatically change your duty status back to driving. Not ment to allow you to move on down the road a half mile at a time because it also records the gps coordinates. Safety frowns on this.
Hope this helps.
