Very tech challenged ..
Does any one have a Bluetooth system in their truck ? Any ideas on a aftermarket system....?
Wife has one in her car from the factory...seems to work well.

I've got one that's built in to my Kenwood aftermarket radio, I mounted the mic on my sunshade. My drop visor renders the sunshade useless anyway. It doesn't work as well as the factory one in my pickup but it's okay. It would work better if I didn't ride low in the seat and all the way back. I'm a little far away from the mic, adjusting the gain up during a phone call (once I had deciphered enough of the manual to learn how to do that) improved it. My truck is very quiet; I don't think it'd be very good with dual straight pipes for example. It's good enough for me that I haven't put much energy into finding a better way to mount the mic or gone back to using the headset.
My truck is a 2000 KW T800 aerocab with a C-12 CAT, single mitre cut exhaust up the right side of the cab.Cat sdp Thanks this. -
I had a Bluetooth thing in my cb. I can't recommend a good one: but I will say #### that one. Cobra 29 with Bluetooth= junk

I can't handle ear buds or a headset . I feel your pain

I recently installed a Kenwood head unit with Bluetooth in a turned up '04 Silverado duramax and a stock '96 K1500.
Both include a microphone; ran the wire up the driver side A-pillar and positioned the microphone to aim at the driver's face. Gotta get the aim right for how the driver sits when operating the vehicle. Sound quality coming from those trucks is comparable to the hands-free bluetooth in my Lexus.
Our drivers all get Parrot bluetooth headsets and all are satisfied with them. -
I hate goofy headsets. I have one of the blue parrot ones and it does a good job but you look like an airline pilot or football coach. You see the ####### walking around the truckstop with one on their head? Yeah I rarely use it. I use a Plantronics earpiece. It works OK and is more discreet. With our personal vehicles a big problem we have using the factory built in Bluetooth is echo. Really there doesn't seem to be anything that works 100% well and gets high marks across the board.

lol yeah, that's the one.
I too am partial towards Plantronics, they make excellent headsets imo. -
The original one works pretty good. I made the mistake of "upgrading" to the digital face one for the caller ID, and haven't ever liked it. Kicks the call back to the device after 5-10 seconds and you have to hit the button on the mic again to get the call back through the CB. That and a TRUE noise cancelling mic is needed...wish Astatic would make one. I can set the mic down in the center of the dash and be standing outside the truck pumping fuel and it'll still pick me up. Needless to say, background noise is an issue.
I hate headsets, though, and don't really care much for talking on the phone while I'm driving. So, it gives me an excuse to keep conversations short and to the point, and avoid the unnecessary ones altogether. I'm not driving a phone booth! -
Ya my wife's car doesn't use a headset.....it uses the stereo speakers (I think ).
That's what I'm looking for. -
That's what the Kenwood stereos I installed are.
They come with a long corded microphone and the sound comes out the vehicle's speakers.Cat sdp Thanks this.
