    So we should be saying

(full days + partial days) * .80 = amount allowed.

    (63 + 47.25) * .80 = 88.20 allowed if out 1 full day and 1 partial day.

I see where I might have misunderstood the publication..

So they take their (full days + partial days) * 80.

    this makes more sense...

oops on my part for mis reading the pub. I do know that I had a spread sheet that I had all this figured out and the CPA just plugged in my numbers.

Turbo tax does a good job figuring all of this out for you, I've used it the last couple of years.

I don't drive anymore, but I do a lot of driving in my car for testing GPS software. I take the flat rate per mile, food, and hotels...

But it is good to know about the this deduction. A lot of drivers do not use it even though they rate it.
