I saw this a while back. Good reminder that cops are real people too, and they have good days and bad. And, obviously, some are even willing to admit when they are having a bad day.

The only reason he admitted to anything was because this would have been a great way to demote this clown in court

He was still driving without a proper pretrip. Even on off duty driving you still need a valid pretrip. Unless I've been misreading the law.

Technically impossible to log it without starting your day though.
He was driving PC, bobtailing to get his trailer. If he had to log a pretrip why bother even worrying about saving your clock with PC miles it would've already started.

Because you're trying to drive legally and save your 11/13 and your 70? Ya it won't save your 14 in the states or your 16 in Canada but still saves driving time.

    That's true.
The way I was taught was to pre trip at the start of your day. Technically PC doesn't constitute starting your day right?

Not to say a good driver wouldn't still look the truck over.

    Johny41 Thanks this.

You are right , we need valid PTI done in last 24 hours before logging " off duty personal driving" 75 km and the logbook must show the status. I understand in USA is illegal to record police in duty, even at the border crossing, dash cam must be turned off.

If police are in a public place, you can record all you want in the USA. Per a ruling issued by Supreme Court. Border area included.

No. No you can not record at the Border. They'll take the device and erase it. And that's if you are luck. If you have a dash cam you're are spose to cover the lens until you are across the border. I know thats Canada entering the US (US border security.) and i'm pretty sure its the same going back. They have a pretty strict rule on everything at the border.

Also remember that Border guards aren't police.
