Getting ready to finish up school and I was tease arching Jim Palmer. I like everything so far, just that there 40,000 miles with a trainer I think is excessive! That's @4 months!? Any thoughts from anyone? Would it be worth it?

    Shouldn't take 4 months.

Of course you would say that you think two weeks with a trainer is too long lol.

Shirley it depends on the quality of training received?. 4 months with a crap trainer can't possibly be better than 2 weeks with a good one.

In the end 40,000 miles is not all that far and 4 months is not all that long. If you want to drive for this company this is the rules they go by. I agree that most other carriers don't require that much but you need to understand there might be things the company wants you to do while being in a trainers truck. Look at this time as a plus not a negative.

4 months is excessive for sure. I'd try to run as hard as possible and try to get 3500 miles a week. I trained 35 days straight off recaps and got off that trainers truck asap! By the end of training, I knew I'd never be able to team, lol!
I wonder how much of that 4 months is with the trainer in the jumpseat? Or is a significant portion spent teaming which is pretty much useless for training purposes

marnium, rachi and Jonkie Thank this.

Why are you calling running training teams useless? Teams is a fantastic transition from the training phase to having your own truck. Trainer is right there if you have an issue and can be up and in the right seat in a few minutes to help a trainee if any question arises. Teaming in a training environment is only useless if the trainer stops training and only uses the trainee as a warm body in the drivers seat to get miles. Any trainer that does this needs to be tied up over a fireant mound and covered with honey.

I would guess at least after 4 weeks in the Truck is likely run as a team op.

    Cheap team
And 3000 ml a week would be a very low estimate

    Jonkie Thanks this.
