The 8 inch rand McNally tablet

Good morning Mark,
I have the Rand McNally Tablet and downloaded some custom POI. They are in the downloaded folder on the tablet but I can not get the GPS part to read them. How do I get them into the GPS part?

 

That is my project in the next few days. I am not sure, but I can play around to come up with an work-around.

My first RM GPS was the 530. For the most part it worked great after they fixed the navi.exe problem.
Then I saw the TND80 and read a little about it. Decided to get it and at first was pretty happy.
Then it started screwing up...
I would route out anything over a few hundred miles and everything would look good until I choose a route.
It would route me about 6-8 miles away or even right where I was sitting and tell me that I have reached my destination.
So I did some checking and research and found that I paid $500 for a GPS that has a completely outdated map database and that there still isn't to this day an update for that database.

I have downloaded and installed other updates to the GPS software, but every time I start up my GPS it continues to tell me that my map database is over a year old.

I've had this GPS for probably around 2-3 months already and while I am very happy with the speed of it compared to the 530, I'm definitely not happy with the fact that I wasted $500 on something that's outdated and already 4 months into 2016 with no map database update.

Not only am I very glad that I didn't put my 530 on ebay like I was planning... But I'm definitely going to download and install a more updated and reliable GPS program on my somewhat new $500 tablet even if I have to spend another $150 to do so.

Granted RM's support is pretty good compared to others that I've had to contact, but their first priority should be keeping the database up to date since that is the one thing that could prevent a truck from driving into a lake, cornfield or even a school playground.... And we all know that there are drivers out there that will follow this things routing like a fat kid chasing a candy bar.

 

New maps are being visited by RM GIS for testing and they should be released in a few months for the tablet and TND's... just don't hold me to this limit as I don't have any control over RM business decisions.

I am having the same problem he was. No sound and didn't automatically fix like his did.

 

Does the sound work with any other apps such as YouTube? IF it does not then you need to contact RM CS for repair. If it does, they you might be missing a voice file for the truck GPS. I can remote into your tablet via your computer if this is the case.

No it doesn't work at all unless it's connected to a Bluetooth speaker or the aux port on my stereo. Other than that no sound at a
