If FL L.E. were involved, all they'd have to do is run the trailer plate to find the registered carrier, that is assuming the plate was legit....From there, contacting the carrier and see who had it on that date & time and pursue it from there....
As others have said, posting on & off in CAPS don't help your cause, anymore than expecting Swift to be responsible for an old trailer that was possibly sold ions ago....The good news is, no one wrecked and was killed....Shook up, you bet, but you know what, shake it off and move on....Let L.E. handle it and if they don't, get past it it and move on....

This is why UPS SCRAPS their trailers at the end of their useful life,to avoid situations like this. Granted,I've seen a few Swift O/Os fly past me @ 70 m.p.h. but 80 is pushing it.
Toomanybikes Thanks this. -
Is this for real?
How did you get a pic of the trailer? I thought friend, mom and baby girl were in FEAR for their LIVES!!!
Sorry, not sorry, I'm skeptical.MachoCyclone and flood Thank this. -
I thought they did they so they wouldn't create their own competition.

When my employer sold our old trailers, the trailers were not de-identified prior to a power-only company coming onto our yard and hauling them off to parts-unknown. I could not tell you whether or not our plates were removed and the P/O driver replaced them with a temporary tag, but I going to assume our plates were removed.
Additionally, when we get new trailers, they come from the manufacturer (Mexico) with our logos already applied. The power-only companies can haul freight in them prior to delivering them to our facilities. Those trailers arrive at our yards with plates other than our own and they have to be removed and the proper plates installed prior to my employer putting the new trailers in service. -
Run the plate and you will see who is responsible..... Dot can do this for you
Writing letters to swift is not going to be useful to you
... You and friend are not going to get free $ today but Atleast you might get someone's attention on a some bad driving habits
.... Thank God no one was hurt -
Agreed...If the OP is in fact a retired OTR o/o Then she should have know to at least get the DOT#. That is just common knowledge.
I've seen these outfits before. They are usually, Russian, Middle Easten or Indian Sikhs. They usually travel in packs or herds. I once saw six of them piling out of a truck at a pilot in NJ.MachoCyclone Thanks this. -
If there is video or photographic evidence of the passenger "leaning out of the window and throwing a rock", that is a little more than "bad driving habits". However, if there is no video or photographic evidence showing the passenger doing that, then it becomes speculation. The offending truck can say he didn't throw an object, my tires must have kicked it up, while at the same time, the lady the OP is referring to saying the driver/passenger did it. The burden of proof lies with the Fed-Ex driver and the one driving the rental. Unless they have pictures or videos of the actual event, all they have is proof their windows were shattered. They cannot prove how it happened.

I disagree, I think she should stew on this until she develops an ulcer, then maybe she will have a case.
Maybe just travel the countryside looking for the elusive Swift trailer with NV plates, I dunno.
