That is a lot of trouble, and what is that like? 3 flights?

That'd be a deal breaker for me..,.

They will put you on the Graydog if you request it. Depending on your location, it would only be a couple days each way.

Some drivers bring their car in from out of state (at their expense). Getting off the yard when not under a real load isn't as easy as driving out the gate bobtail. You have to get a bobtail trip number, that they prefer you set up during the normal business hours of the office. They will give one from after hours dispatch, but depending on who took the 'on call' cell phone home, it can sometimes be a long wait for a bobtail trip. And at one point, they were getting pizzy about all the after hours bobtail pass requests. If a driver has a car there, they could come and go as they pleased without a permission slip.

I agree , it created a major chain of problems
for me back when I hired on.
I had to tell my employer at the time I had a family emergency ( I basically told a big fat lie to them ) and they needed to get me home by the date of the plane trip to Texas for the face-to-face then I had to rush back to the airport to make it back to work to connect to my scheduled load and then once I was on my way with the loaf put in my notice and fly out again in 2 weeks for orientation .
All I know is it's behind me and I will never do
    something like that again .

We are now required to take our tractor to the shop for the shop guy
to do a mechanical inspection. So bobtailing out can pose a problem
if they see something that needs fixing.Loaners have been in seriously
short supply the last few times Ive been thru Grand Prairie. They won't
let us even use one to go get lunch or do our laundry just down the street.

Best to have ones own personal vehicle on the yard.

Poly is an awesome company to work for .... until you get to the Grand Prairie terminal, then it's a cluster-#####.

I keep my car here, but I seem to remember during orientation that you can get a gate pass to bobtail off the property. I did that once in Henderson.

Im ok with bringing my personal car to Grand Prarie , my nagging concern is with the current loaner situation/shop situation and truck down time when PM's come due.
From what I am gathering 90% of the people leaving Poly are leaving over the shop. Im guessing they just can't take it anymore.
Last time I escaped by the skin of my teeth on the PM Maintenance/Truck shut down cycle.
I got the last loaner that was road worthy (out of the 5 that were on the yard)( and it had shock absorbers not working correctly , thing rode like a rodeo horse but at least i was able to keep rolling )
I fear getting my truck tied up in the shop over repairs and zero loaners to take.
The GP situation is a mess.
The cheapest hotel in the DFW area is 63.15 a night.
( Comfort Inn just down the street from GP )
Ive directly experienced the shop taking 6 days to fix what on my truck at my previous
workplace took about two hours to replace...that Shop is scary as hell
Poly is potentially becoming a very expensive place to work at.:Automobile loan:

Guess I will just see what happens next time thru

I always use priceline for hotels. Stay at nice hotels for $65 or stay at ok hotels for $35.

Most truck companies let you pay with a comcheck. Poly is the only one I know of that makes you pay.

It's been 6 weeks since they approved my hotel room for 3 days, and they still haven't reimbursed me. I remind them weekly only to be lead to believe I'll get paid "this week". They told me that as recently as yesterday. They'll probably say it next week too. :)

When I started, a woman driver told me it took her 2 months to get back $600. She quit and went to WalMart.

I agree about the shop. I'm starting to think someone might be getting a kick back from Southwest International for every truck they send there.

I know a driver who had a alternator light come on while at GP terminal. Rather than having the shop replace it, he waited til he got down the road and took it to a T/A. T/A got him fixed up in a few hrs..

I've never driven for a co. that does their pm's so often (every 15,000 miles) like poly does, yet has so many problems.

I still like Poly though, paper logs and they don't F with you.
