Mountains? Mt. Eagle or Sandstone Mt is about the biggest hill I climb. But with an 18 speed, larger turbo, ported manifold and a few other upgrades she pulls them just fine. I'm sure the cat lovers don't like my Detroit, but I like the fuel mileage. It's not broke in yet but at 70-75 I am averaging 5.3. I am certain I can average 5.5+ with just a little adjustment.
Empty weights of stingers?

I really am not certain, maybe 500 lbs. Just a guess, but I went with a Detroit because that is what Fitzgerald specializes in and the series 60 is known for fuel mileage.

It is a very uncommon setup, but it works great. I didn't come up with this idea, Pittsburgh Power did, and they know engines. At 65 in 16 I am just a tad over 1500. This is direct drive and the most efficient gear. At 17 which is a single overdrive I can run at 70-75 1450-1550. Loaded I start off in low gear in the high side and don't need to split any gears on the low range. I ran the numbers on the Eaton Fuller website for road speed, rpm, rear end specs before I ordered it. The numbers were right on.

I run big moutains with my 3.08's. Takes a little getting used to and you're never the first one up or down the hill. I just move my seat further back so my friends can't see me doing the climb of shame

Also, any one know som setup for lighter sleeper stinger? I'm have western star with Cummins in it(more heavy then CAT) and Cottrell 7509, my weight is 44300, it's lighter truck what I'm has. But I'm try to built truck to stay around 42k, it's perfect to my loads. So, I'm thinking about Pete or WS with small sleeper and Detroit in it,chop roof, custom t&c headrack and Cottrell cx9 with truck package. Also wanna one fit longer frame, but don't know how it will affected on weight.

I would think though that the CAT would perform just as well as the Detroit when it comes to heavy and parachute loads? Speaking of fuel mileage, obviously it would outperform on power
