    well this is my issue truck is getting new engine and I want to take a break from intermodal since there's not much negotiating rate. I'm looking for a company that will accept owner operators, and will get my home everyday or every other day, and pays % I spoke to pgt (they bought out liedka) out of Trenton, nj but 200 dollars a week for a trailer and potential for 4k got me thinking. any other options out there???

    any information will be highly appreciated..... I'm based out of north jersey

    How about the HUB Group. They specialize in intermodel and I think they have a terminal in North Jersey. They have drivers that work for O/O's, so they must be making good money.

    How about island transport for tanks. Asphalt is starting so you'll be starting at a good time. You won't need to invest in pump immediately if you tell John (the guy in charge of owner operators) that you don't want to invest in a pump before getting a feel for pulling asphalt. Tell him you want to see if you can make money and you want to see if the comapny is a fit. Work 8/10 hours a day running majority local in nj. Some loads go to pa and upstate ny or long island.

    It's funny I've been doing intermodal for a while and Iam in the same boat I need to take a break and try something new . Was you doing ports or trains

    I was doing trains but based on what people are telling me drivers are barely making it including the dispatch brown nosers.... roman leasing has a hiring freeze and 2 other we pretty much depend on china and china economy is bad really bad

    I do both port and trains I've never seen it this bad last time it was like this we was in the recession. It's a bloodbath guys cutting each other's throats. Good luck and let me know if you find something good
