Landstar OJS branch out of Georgia is a complete rip off. I booked a load with them and was told it would be 40,000 lbs at P&G after being loaded 6 hours later. I found out it was 45,000 lbs. Called in for compensation for the extra weight and detention. I was told we will pay for both we take care of our owner operators. Which was a lie it's been two months now and they have yet to pay me. Do Not Work For This Particular Branch they will tell you what you want to hear , just to get there load moved. I tried to complain to Landstar they told me I had to resolve it with that particular branch. Sincerely 4B's & 3A's Logistics #9802296845

So do you ever offer to haul for less if the load is lighter than booked or if you're able to load/unload early?

The only time weight should come into play is if you are over 80k and that is for permitting etc. Always, always, always assume you are going to be 80k. The fuel cost difference for 5 k is minimal at best.

I picked up a load that was stated 40k lbs it turned out to be 7k lbs should I have called the agent a told them I'll haul it cheaper than what was posted?? When it comes to weight like others say assume it'll be 80k and keep it moving

I think we scared Bruce off with logic and reason...or he's busy skillfully negotiating his next load.

Detention is paid when the customer pays their bill. P&G may take 90 days.

It being Bruce's first post I have to assume he is new to the OO world. And that it might be his last.

Him not understanding how detention works even after being told (and yes Bruce you have been told) makes me think he won't be around very long.

Now I seem to be in a very cruel mood today so I will stop and play nice. Good luck to you Bruce.

Had a similar situation a few years back. Picked up an MRI unit in Cali from the port. Was told it would weigh 43k. No problem. Went and picked it up ( was in a rag top container). When they set it on the truck I knew something was wrong. Went to the TA west ( now a petro) scaled. 92k gross. Called the agent, um Houston we have a problem. I need permits. Explained the issue. Agent was cool , adjusted the rate up with the customer to cover the permits etc and away I went. Cost an extra day to get them from Cali to TX but it was worth it. The doc that bought it was ticked to death when it got there and I get Free MRI's for myself and family. Win win
