Well it's your money do what you want with it. A couple grand in my pocket is a pretty nice "carrot."

Mine was 700 bucks, so I said no thanks. Half a week of work for 18,000 off what I made. Maybe I should have used something else, maybe i didn't pay all that much in. I had two jobs this year and one wasn't trucking, maybe that did it. Either way, I passed on it.

Interesting thought process lol. You know a mortgage broker would look at your total earnings and not adjusted income.

Something about the whole per diem situation really sketched me out. If you claim it throughout your life , the end result would be 300-400 bucks less received by SS at retirement. Will SS be around by then, who knows. I'm not much of a gambler and they have been saying SS will be gone since my parents were young and it hasnt. I might go back and amend, you have 5 years to go back and change taxes, eh time will tell.

SS will be around in one form or another. I'm nearly maxed out on my benefits I'll receive, but they will force me to pay for the next 22 years anyway. So basically I'll get the same check after retirement no matter what I contribute from here out.

I drive OTR, we get to deduct 80% of that $59 food expense. I think, that is.

Doesn't the man camp provide meals? While no accountant here I think you would be hard pressed to deduct for something that your employer provides.

Do you return to man camp everyday? If so the answer is no. Sane reason local drivers cant claim it.
