Your obviously not a driver you sound like one our office personnel. Babysitter really. Having a good DM is important having a bad one makes your time at a company bad. You'll be pissed off all the time at the desk jocky not doing his job and making your job harder. Idk. I don't work on there equipment either I'm a driver not a mechanic. Don't care why it going off it really needs to be fixed by somebody who gets paid to do it.

Thank you for all the great information on May. I am in CDL school and paying for it myself enabling me to choose which company I will work for right out of the starting gate thus bypassing the driver mills that are out there. I have spent hundreds of hours researching companies and May is sounding like one of the rare gems that actually values their drivers. I am retired military so working for a Veteran friendly company is very important to me. I believe May offers a VA OJT Apprenticeship Program. Do you have any info on that?

Out of curiosity, do any May drivers have any input on the Nashville OC. That's where I'll be headed for orientation. Thanks.

Yeah there's a douchebag father and son team down there the son is a big time douchebag I think his name is Chris but I'm pretty sure there on there way out of there soon. He acts that way because he can't do anything without daddy. He sit in that office just bashing drivers load as hell and daddy just sit there and allows it. Hopefully they put some good people down there. In my opinion the way your DM acts creates a safe environment for drivers especially student drivers and when you put somebody with zero respect for drivers in a position that has direct contact with drivers creates a stressful, unpleasant, and unsafe environment for student driverssuperfly9376 Thanks this.

I'm still debating where to go for my first company since i just graduated school. Thanks for the info. I understand people are going to people and there's no perfect company, I'm just trying to keep my head on straight and have realistic expectations getting in to this industry. I'm a young guy with no wife or kids and I stay by myself so I don't mind staying out for some weeks.... Well I guess I won't really know what my preference is until I experience it. Lol

Same here, just graduated CDL school and May seems to be right up there with the top companies I can train with. One question I haven't seen asked: Will May allow me to take my truck home during my break? I'm 5 hours from Pensacola.
-
Probably not, especially if it's out of route.Endorphin Thanks this.
-
Yeah there isn't much room in Florida yard and most of the drivers down there take there trucks home if they have room at there place for themEndorphin Thanks this.
-
I just looked at the location on Google Maps and you're right, that's really small. Thanks for clearing that up, it would be a 5-hour commute each way if I had to drive my car down there.

Not to shoot a hole in your dreams,
but May wouldn't even be on my list of maybe companies.
You can do soooo much better.
Keep doing your research.
Good Luck
