I'm thinking of getting into cattle trucking with a one ton and gooseneck trailer and was wondering what expenses I'll occur. I'll list what I've come up with. Truck and trailer are already paid as we use them on our farm.
    Fuel
    Maintenance
    Insurance
    Plates
    Workman's Comp
    Professional Fees
    Wood Shavings
    Advertising
    Cell phone
    CVOR
    Truck and Trailer replacement fund
    Taxes

    Anything else let me know.
    Thanks

which province are you in? that can make a big difference.
In Alberta you can get one 30 day licencing permit or 7 single trip permits without having to CVIP a farm plated truck, and you don't have to be national safety council for the permit.
I don't know about the other provinces.

you would need to charge the same money for a 1 ton and stock trailer as you would for a tractor and liner,

so it makes it hard to compete unless there is a clear market for a smaller carrier.

I'm from Ontario. You can haul for hire under farm plates for September October and November. I'll be hauling to local auction markets and butchers. Won't be competing with cattle liners.
