3K revenue in three days.. If that's true I'm sure you're doing alot of in and out and dropping and hooking. You might want to rethink the way you run.. That truck may not be suited for that kind of wear and tear... Just my two cents

Only time a vehicle needs def is if it doesn't meet EPA standards without it. That's how vw managed even if they cheated.
freightwipper Thanks this. -
This is NOT where I normally work. I'm usually on flat land in the midwest but still this shouldn't happen to a year old truck.
I had one load preplanned that was 550 miles that paid $1680, which bumped those numbers up. Rare to get a load like that and now thanks to this I had to have it pulled from me -
Sorry to hear you blew your engine wip.
What kind RPM's were you turning when she let go?
Were you low on oil?
If you were they will know when they break the engine down,so be prepared for the questions they will ask.
More than likely it was a head gasket, the PACCAR's have very tight clearances.
That's why they like that 10W30 oil,bit thinner so it flows better.
Good Luck with the repairs, hope the tow and engine are covered.freightwipper Thanks this. -
@freightwipper if it makes you feel better, I have a used truck and not only was I down 2.5 weeks, but I also had an $11,000 bill that the warranty I bought covered $3,800 of.

I just had a PM at a Kenworth dealer maybe 3500-4000 miles ago.
Oil levels were fine. -

Man it sounds like some of you are thinking @freightwipper is not taking care of his truck. I drive a nice new 2017 Pete 579 EPIQ and came out of a 2015 std 579.
I can tell you one of our drivers (who started driving sometime when dinosaurs roamed the earth) had a brand new MX-13 blow on him, we have also had a series of trucks experience camshaft issues. And don't even get me started on the DEF system problems...same with the Freightliner day cabs.
There's a reason that many smaller fleets operate gliders, they are easier to work on and a number of shops around the country can service them. Looking at lost revenue from my stoppages on the old truck, I could even run a C-15 (at today's fuel costs) and make money...
@freightwipper hang in there, I hope they are able to get you in and out quickly, I'm glad you were at least making money before this hit... -
Yup,it's expensive as hell.
Learn to work on them and save as much $$ as you can.
Rates have been in the toilet since deregulation.
Smart money is in specialized,I go back and forth between Dry and Flat/Step.
FYI : I was not implying that FW wasn't taking care of his truck, just asked a few questions to see how it happened.
So relax and stop trying to start a argument.Last edited: Apr 30, 2016

The more I'm dealing with problems the more I'm leaning towards a preemission truck being the best bet.. however Schneider wouldn't let you lease on with an older truck supposedly so there goes that.
