I'm an experienced driver/been out for 6 years. She said(the recruiter) it may only last 18 days with 1 week with a trainer. I understand Schneider has simulators. What can I expect during these 18 days?
    Thanks

My 18-day orientation was in Indianapolis. The first week was physicals, computer based training, and spending time on the practice pad and city driving. Sunday everyone left out to meet their trainers. Some already had trainers at the Indianapolis terminal. If you leave out they will either send you by bus, rental car or reimburse you for driving yourself (I think all were by rental care or drove themselves). My trainer actually had me and another student on the truck at the same time. The other student was a female so we took our breaks at a hotel. She would get a room (paid by Sch.) and me the trainer would sleep in the truck. I would say half the class had two students to a truck and the other half was one on one. I guess it depends if they have enough trainers that week to cover all the students. The third week was similar to the first week except for the fact that you tested out Wed or Thursday and they went over benefits and you finished the computer based training. Orientation was over around 3pm Friday afternoon. I didn't have to report back to my home terminal until Tuesday morning the following week. I would say it was an okay experience with some ups and down.

Let me understand this 6yrs experience? Now going to Schneider?? Unless you live in Hawaii there has to be a better company you can apply to. Did you just get out of truck driving school.....come on now!!!! 18 days?? You can get a local dump truck driving job local and get paid by the hour and make wayyyyyyyyyyyy more cash than that place. Do your homework PLEASE!!! But you have 6 yrs on job you should know better. If you have been out the truck for awhile so what. Good luck with that mega orientation>>>>>>>>>>>>ENJOY
