There's a guy named Chris H in Ontario California.
Most of his customers are over modulated and distorted but apparently he has two different types of tunes that he does. Apparently if you want your radio to function properly you have to put in a special request and tell him you want Crystal Clean audio
CB shop black list.

There's a guy off Interstate 65 in the northern part of Indiana inside the shop at the Flying J that is capable of doing decent work but you have to put in a special request and tell him exactly how you want it done otherwise it won't be right. I forgot the guys name but if you tell him to keep it at a 4 to 1 Peak to carrier ratio at 75% of the rated capacity of the final transistors you should be okay with that guy's work
slim6596 and Cledus Snow Thank this. -
There's a few guys around the country that do acceptable work but nothing to Rave about
Cledus Snow Thanks this. -
I hope he can fix it. Thanks for the help rabbi. -
What kind of radio is it? Also if you keep blowing finals you might have a problem with the truck or the antenna system. Every time the finals get replaced the whole thing has to get retuned.
The bias voltage for every transistor will be slightly different due to a different curve
Unless you have a set of transistors that are beta matched on a curve tracer. In which case you can just pop them and yank them out and replace them with your beta matched replacements no adjustments would be necessary in that particular set of circumstances

If I could get a reply out of Mark, I'd consider sending him my radio. DTB gets mixed reviews. Been burned by too many hacks in the past.
Running that radio in that manner, will it hurt it? I'm thinking no, but I just won't have the range that I know Mark could get out of it.
Sorry for hijacking the thread people. I'll shut up now.rabbiporkchop Thanks this. -
All the guys that gave David B a bad review involved amplifiers. If all you plan is running a single radio without an amplifier David B does excellent textbook work.
I think he has started experimenting with some unorthodox procedures trying to keep up with Mark S unable to figure out Marks Secret, but if you tell him you want him to do everything strictly by-the-book the way he was taught without any fancy unorthodox things done to it it will be just fine.

That guy in Indiana is accustomed to his customers asking for over modulated distorted sounding audio and he aims to please.
I had him work on a magnum S9 with the 1969 finals in it and I had him set the carrier Power at 8 watts and I had him set the peak power at 32 watts and he kept asking me if I wanted it louder and I kept telling him no I insisted he do it the way I tell him to do it and he relented and left it alone and when I left the shop I got lots of compliments on how it sounded.
Performance doubled after I took it to Mark and had Mark redo the thing thoughslim6596 Thanks this. -
It's a Stryker 955. It was due to the crap Volvo I was driving, why it kept blowing finals. I'm dumb when it comes to radios, so it happened twice before I figured out it was the truck. I had it fixed twice and it's virtually worthless to talk on. I need someone who knows what they're doing to go through it.
