I know the post I'm quoting here is five years old, but I've been away for a while. And after reading it, I felt like I wanted to respond to it. So here goes:
I said in my post above, White Dog, that I was being trained to haul specialized freight. In this instance, glass. I'd never hauled it before, and there were special rules for handling it. So, I had to go out with a trainer for a couple of weeks to learn it.
That being said, you might want to maybe ask a few questions before you try to come off as a condescending prick. It is attitudes like this, and remarks like this, in fact, that make us such a disparate work force. We can't get anything organized, because some Fred Flinstone always has to jump up and pop his mouth off about something (which in reality, he seldom understands or knows anything about), just about any time somebody tries to contribute something useful.
Serious business. If this industry is to have any hope of changing, it is going to be we truckers who will have to change it. Lawmakers sure aren't going to change it - and shippers, receivers and trucking companies are only interested in money. They sure aren't worried about our sorry arses.
We need an atmosphere of cooperation. And remarks like the one I quoted, are precisely the opposite. We need to be in support of one another, not trying to engage in juvenile one-upsmanship like Mr. White Dog here.
In fact, it would be my guess that TruckersReport created this forum for us with that kind of cooperation in mind. They gave us a venue. We need to avail ourselves of it. We need to use it to our benefit - not sit around and catcall at one-another like a bunch of idiot children popping off in a school lunchroom.
Not really a bad company but a bad experience from a Good Company. Transport America
