See 8thnote and Jay's comments above. So long as your particular antidepressant is not a controlled substance, it will not result in a positive drug test. For example, Zoloft or Prozac would not cause a positive drug test because they do not contain a controlled substance.

The standard DOT urine test is 5 panel, which means they test for 5 specific substances. THC, cocaine, opioids, benzos, and amphetamines. Now if your company also does a hair test, they may test for other substances as well. The only way to know what they're testing your hair for is to ask. Also, if you are involved in a fatality accident, the DOT will order a blood toxicology screen which will reveal anything that is in your system.Falcon86a Thanks this.

If they specifically ask if you're taking any meds, don't lie! It'll come back and bite you in the butt sooner or later. On the other hand, no need to volunteer any info if they don't ask. Been so many years since I filled out a job ap, I'm not even sure if this type of question would be asked.

The physical form specifically asks about *all* medications. If the drug is not a controlled substance and does not hinder the OP's ability to operate a CMV, under no circumstances should he disclose it on the form.
In other words, yes, he should lie.Jay19871 Thanks this. -
The five panel test does not include benzos. It's
THC
PCP
CRACK/COCAINE
OPIATES
AMPHETAMINES -
Ok, I have one more question. I have a prescription for Klonopin, that i stopped taking Tuesday. Would that show up? Should I put that down? I discontinued it, so no right? Do they test the same day(with dip stick or whatever?)
Or do they send to a lab. If they road test people the same day as they take it and send out with a trainer then they're not sending to a lab right?Last edited: May 6, 2016

I'm not sure about the rd test vs test results but klonopin will not show up on the standard 5 panel dot drug test. If the company does 8 or 12 panel or hair test it will show up. If you have to pass more than the 5 panel get a note from the prescribing doctor than he has taken you off the medication and you are no longer on it. If it's just a standard wiz quiz then don't say anything

how could you find out which they do?

Always have wondered about popping a valium before a dot physical to lessen anxiety of the BP check.

When you start asking narrow view questions of the particular type of drug test the prospective employer gives, it will throw up a red flag. They look at it as, "why do you care what/how we test for, do you have something to hide??
And most larger companies have in their hiring paperwork a page which you signn which authorizes them access to your medical records.
If you try to hide a medication, chances are they will find out about it sometime in the future.
Insurance companies carry great weight in this industry and have a say in who is hired and who is denied.Lepton1 Thanks this.
