There is a solution, although it may be a DRASTIC one.

Since you put yourself in a position where you could have been charged with a crime and possibly sent to prison, you may want to IMMEDIATELY resign your position as a CDL "A" truck driver, and IMMEDIATELY turn in your CDL "A" for a regular license to only drive a car.

Afterwards, IMMEDIATELY start applying for a job in a NON-DRIVING position, don't even apply for a taxi cab driver's job or a forklift operator's job. Stay away from all transportation equipment type jobs. This lessens your chances of getting into any more trouble, as far as the transportation industry is concerned.

Apply for jobs in other industries as manufacturing, machine shop work, construction (NON-DRIVING), administration, clerical, banking, retail, hotel, restaurants, or some civil service job with the federal government, state, county, or city.

You could go down to a union hall and sign up for employment at a union job. If you are near a waterfront, there may some work on the docks that you could do. You many get charged "dues" if work is found for you.

A 3rd. option would be to go down to your local employment office and sign up for work over there. Something is bound to crop up.

When applying for these jobs, be sure to let the interviewer know everything that you have posted on the forum. This way the interviewer can better place you in a job that is best suitable for you.

Good luck to you! God bless you and your entire family!

Just as a truck driver should always stay way from drugs, the truck driver should also always stay away from alcoholic beverages, for as long as he or she has a CDL "A ". This way it virtually eliminates the possibility of ever getting into any kind of trouble whatsoever, as far as alcohol and drugs are concerned.

Seriously. I'm f'n sorry I didn't strip search my coworkers, who company policy is that they were supposed to be drug tested and then randomly tested. And then didn't do an in depth bag check before they could get on the truck, making them lay every single thing out to make sure nobody is bringing anything onto the truck. And then set up some kind of camera or something so that I could see what was going on in the sleeper.

I guarantee that half of you that have driven team drove with someone having something in the truck

And enough with talking to me like I was the one drinking and smoking. I don't have to turn my CDL in. Yeah, I didn't know what they were doing in back behind the curtain, but I'm not ####ing retarded. Why would I smoke when I know 1000000% that I had a drug test coming up?

Over the top a little? Bet you feel like a big men, don't you? This is why I'm getting out of trucking, I need to be in an industry where intelligence and education are a requirement of the work. I'm tired of being compared to you people.

I am baffled by the lack of reading comprehension some people have, and what little sense they have. I did a job, and 4 guys had a large cooler with their lunch in it. Now in this case it had tamales and water bottles in it, and they weren't in my truck. But instead of water, it could have a sixer in there. Why would anyone think to look in their cooler for beer. As far as the gange, if they were blowing it out the vent, with curtain drawn, how would anyone know until the truck was stopped and you went in the sleeper?

Problem is, since it's his truck and he's the driver, he is just as guilty at least for possession of the drugs UNLESS one of the aforementioned idiots takes the unlikely step of speaking up and saying it's their stash.

My solution would be to pull over in the middle of nowhere an issue an ultimatum. Either the contraband goes out the door, or they do.

if you even need to ask somebody what you should do in that situation, you have no business operating a truck on public highways.

Is everybody having difficulty understanding? The op didn't ask what to do when he found out the workers were smoking spliff and drinking beer WHILE he was driving. He asked what to do when if found out AFTERWARDS that the helpers had been partying while he had been driving. Should he tell his boss, or forget about it, as he is leaving. And will the secondhand smoke give him a positive drug test.
