Introductions

Hi! I am super thankful this website exists because it has great information on it! I am currently in my first week of CDL school, and I've found this an excellent resource when looking for info on companies to go with after school. I am a 22 year old woman, and I decided I wanted to be a trucker after bouncing around colleges without any purpose. I've only worked fast food/customer service jobs, and I had to get out of that! I chose trucking because I love the idea of working alone and seeing the county, learning mechanical skills, and getting financially independent. I am located in the Twin Cities area and I'm interested in a Midwest regional route. My first week of school was rough, but I am making progress and I know I'll be able to do it if I keep studying and trying my best. If anyone reads this, thanks, and have a nice day

 

Thanks! I was just super frustrated because it took me 3 days to do a straight back, but once I got that, things seemed to take off

 

Oh no that's so mean! I got talked to on my 2nd day about why I hadn't gotten it yet, but it wasn't quite that bad. That's great you were able to push through it Anxiety is for sure my main obstacle.

 

Well yay I am lucky because I only have one other guy in my class, and he's better than me so far because he has some trucking experience, but I am better at going slow and not over steering. My instructors have said that there haven't been a lot of women at their school, but when there are, they never have ego issues and are easier to train.
