If you keep filing on time, they eventually will let you go from monthly to quarterly. But in the meantime, I agree monthly filing is a huge pita.

You can call them 24/7. Once your setup after the first call it's pretty easy and quick after that. Just tell them where you are entering and where you are leaving. If you don't know when or where your leaving you call later. Make sure you arrive with empty tanks and fill up there. You need your permit in hand to buy fuel.

Why would you buy anymore fuel there than what would be needed to cover the miles? You won't get any credit for that fuel in IFTA states, correct?

    ramblingman Thanks this.

Yes, you are correct. Fuel is cheaper there though.

That is correct, but Oregon charges NO taxes with permit.

On an after-tax basis, Oregon is rarely cheaper than Washington, however.

Is fuel that much cheaper? Doesn't seem like it comes close once you take taxes out of it from any of the surrounding states.

It varies. Today's lowest NASTC price (pretax):

    $1.75 WA
    $1.82 OR
    $1.82 CA
    $1.94 ID
    $1.97 NV

5 in the last 12 months, not calendar year. So say you are up to 4 right now for the last 12 months, and you got one May 2015- next month you would be at 3 for the year. Make sense?

I'm in WA and avoid OR, since I don't go to CA & not a lot of what I haul goes there there's no way I'm adding something else I have to report monthly/quarterly if I can avoid it. Oregon is mentally challenged, when I signed up for their online service to get permits it was a PITA- they insisted on having the original articles of incorporation for my business. WTF? Everything is prepaid if you just get permits!!!!!

95 is scenic & the wagon is 48'......

When i first went in to the state. 6 years ago.The fine was $400 for not having trip permit before you hit the port or scale. As for buying fuel..license plate is all you need..even if its a temp registration. Yes, ive used temp when my truck was new with no plate.
