hello I'm new to this forum. Don't have my cdl yet looking at company sponsored training. Was active duty army for 3 years and now national guard. I had 2 deployments one to Afghanistan, another to Guantanamo bay. Currently looking at prime inc, and Jim Palmer trucking.

    Welcome to your new career.
I like Jim Palmer and their full size trucks. Real decent pay scale also.Which state do you live in.?

I'm currently in Sacramento, CA. I like The fullsize truck instead of the lightweight that prime offers. I understand that if I went to Jim Palmer I'll be make a couple cents less then prime. I also talked to both recruiters at prime and Jim Palmer and they said since I have monthly drills for the military that they'll get me home for those drills but that would be considered my home time.

A couple of cents per mile is nothing to worry about. I'd go with Jim Palmer.

I would totally agree. I've been trying to read more about Jim Palmer but intimation is limited. Tons of info about prime but on here not to much updated info about Jim Palmer. Many I would like to know how consistent their miles are. I heard between 2500-3000 miles but idk reliable that info is.

Jim Palmer is a much smaller company.
@akfisher maybe can answer some questions.
Keep in mind, with any company, you may lose out on a long run once a month so you can be routed home for monthly drills. Still worth it though in the big picture.

Thanks Chinatown. ESPN 0305 I spoke to a current driver on phone today. Said its the best flace ever worked in a 7 year career 3 rd company. Average miles, Long Hauls, Little late night running, and easily achievable fuel bonus. This person said freight dropped but finally moving again. Forward facing cameras only.

Thanks everyone. I'm new to this trucking scene. I'm married with a daughter so I know it'll be a sacrifice but pay off in the long run, and I understand I got to start somewhere, from the bottom just like the military.

I can tell you this. After working for two "starter" companies I assure you this one probably has the best program and highest paying i have seen for new drivers once done with training are make .40-.45 cpm way higher than where i started for sure
