supertruck with free fuel

Wonder what the gross weight of that baby gonna be. With all those batteries & turbines.

 

Estimated Dry Weight (pounds/kg) 21,000 lbs / 9,526 kg

 

That's pretty heavy just for the tractor. Takes away from total gross.

 

Back when fuel was $4 gal and my truck was not where its at now,.. my weekly fuel bill was often over $3000. $5000 a month with no fuel bill would have been a pretty good deal.

Thing is it uses CNG to fuel a turbine that recharges the batteries. So your limited to fueling at CNG stations only. Range is not too bad,.. 1200 mi. With 300 gal tanks,.. I can do 1200 - 1400mi between fill ups easily.

Kinda meh on that design though,.. my inlaws RV did not have a drivers door and it always bothered me when driving it. I guess DOT might get alarmed that you have to get up and open the side door to sign his ticket book.

Wonder how reliable and what the life cycle is on the batteries and motors? They can not be cheap to service and replace.

They are claiming a normal truck weighs in at 23K lbs. Does anyone here have a truck that heavy? I think they are a little off on their figures on that one.

Heres another article about the truck that refers to Worthington but just says he developed a CNG system for trucks owned by Worthington.
