anybody on here work there or know anything about this company ?

Occasionally I do a different route and see their terminal in Santa Rosa. I wonder how much they pay, their benefits and all that...

Would be nice to go from orange and white to blue and white

You probably shouldn't touch that right now. They got bought out at the end of last year and there's too much uncertainty there. Also, the way I see XPO Logistics warehouses being run makes me wonder how they'll be successful running the 2nd largest LTL company.

I'm intrigued also. How is it that Conway drivers can pull the same size pups as FedEx yet not snake it all the way down the highway like FedEx does?

    Need Greenwald on this...

Even though they pay pretty well and have decent bennies I think conway/xpo would be at the bottom of pretty much every bodies list.

    Here's what I know:

In an effort to quickly save some money, they (XPO) let go of a bunch of their sales people, as well as some upper management. R&L scooped up a bunch of the sales people and YRC scooped up a bunch of the management people. XPO has since sued YRC over some non-compete clause those people signed when they accepted their severance packages. Some of the sales people have been hired back, but damage had already been done. Customers weren't really kept in the loop about the acquisition, leaving drivers (who were also confused about what would happen) to try and make sure customers didn't panic and use other carriers. It seems to me like they did in fact lose a good amount of business because I keep hearing P&D guys complaining about not getting any overtime and there is talk of a bunch of their linehaul runs getting cut and drivers sitting at home. They have a bunch of drivers looking elsewhere for work right now.

That is why I'd advise against starting a career with them at the moment.

Buddy of mine put his 2 weeks in to be a O/O. They fired him and escorted him of the premises. Said he made big money but a lot of cracking the whip happens there.

I've heard that's pretty much their standard protocol whenever someone gives 2 weeks notice. So much for mutual respect.

Before the takeover i heard it was raining money over there. Like 100K right off the street kind of money. Nighttime linehaul.

i agree that may want to hold off for now cos no-one really knows what's going on and i too don't have a whole lot of confidence in XPO right now.

i'm not saying it's the case at Conway, but in a lot of cases it has to do with steering ratio/quickness, powersteering vs. manual steering: Power steering tends to be "faster" than manual--------power steering is geared higher so it takes less turning of the steering wheel to make the wheels turn left/right vs. manual geared lower, takes more turning of the steering wheel to make the front wheels turn the same amount compared to power steering.

So, the front wheels steering left/right at that faster rate causes jerkiness which causes the trailers to snake around.

Some portions of my route, if i don't get into the ruts just right my set WILL snake severely. i don't even look behind when that happens, just try to get it stable and centered in the lane.
