I have applied to Prime Inc, Jim Palmer, Knight, and Swift as a last resort. One of my preferences was to be able to eventually take my dog with me. I know that I cant take her to any training and I wouldnt even think of that.. she is under 20 lbs and a doxie.

Smart choices. Prime, Palmer, Knight have pet policy. All 3 are ok to get the career started. I like Palmer the best, but all 3 will be ok for you.

I wish you all the best in your new adventure in life. Just remember this job is what you make of it. Work hard become the best you can be for which ever company you go with. Dont get wrapped up in all the nay sayers, all they will do is get you down. Keep positive and most days the sun will shine bright. Good luck and Drive safe!
ChancexTaker0827, ThatTruckinGal73 and Chinatown Thank this. -
Thank you very much for those words of encouragement! I am not so much into the negative I see on the net, you see that with any career venture.

I like the TWIC card suggestion. I would also apply for a passport if you have a clean criminal record. Being able to run into Canada is going to open up doors.
Lepton1 Thanks this. -
I believe those are two requirements for JPT which I am aiming for.. however the recruiter said I will have to do it after training is finished. it takes a while in Oregon. I also plan on getting my Tanker endorsement before I leave for school.
-
You should do the passport right now, saves the rush fees when you come out of school. Don't know about the TWIC card.
-
Good thing about the TWIC is it assures the company that their not going to waste their time bringing you out there only to find out you have a criminal record that might surface.
The passport shows you have enough responsibility and commitment to travel out of the states if need be.Skate-Board Thanks this.
