I once worked as an owner opp with FFE about ten years ago and back then they were good until I made the fatal choice to lease purchase a new truck with them. That's when things went bad and there was this dispatcher that insisted she tell me where I needed to go. Needless to say I told her where to go and gave them their truck back and I moved on. The one shady thing of FFE back then was they would charge you for damages that you didn't create or for tire repairs on trailers that I hauled and I would have to always prove to them with receipts. Back then they were a company who couldn't be trusted. You always had to watch your back because there would be someone in the midst wanting to stab it. It was a shame because the first few years with them were good ones. Served them 2001-2006

I heard a couple of Transport America guys yakking on the CB the other day about the future being uncertain, as they've begun closing terminals across the country. I figure it was typical company driver gossip but any current drivers confirm this or have the scoop?

Could be just rumors. USXpress closed some unneeded terminals a few years ago, yet they still continue to improve on their existing terminals and road equipment. In the Trucking industry simply go with the flow. If your still driving making a decent living, continue on. If things are rough going a few weeks, move on to another company that is more stable. Don't move too much with truck companies, otherwise companies will start rejecting you due to excessive job hopping.

I'd quit trucking before I went to Transport America or USX or any of those likes. I was just curious if they were actually folding

I spoke to a current TA driver last week and still loves it. He started there when I did in 2010. Who cares if they are Canadian owned. Most large trucking companies have investors from all over world so kinda the same thing.
